Welcome to my page

It appears I see things differently and laugh when no one else does. So,  through my artwork, I am exploring how individuality affects - and how context informs - perception.

Each moment of perception only happens once, hence all my work is ORIGINAL ARTWORK, which means it cannot be repeated or reproduced. The moment moves with the Encaustic wax medium, which in itself is wholly unpredictable, and is then encased when the wax cools.

Please enter the Gallery to see a selection of my Encaustic paintings.

And please come to the Barn Church Christmas bash, Marksbury Ave, Kew, TW9 on 30th November, 11-2.30

Encaustic Medium

The word encaustic comes from the Latin word meaning 'to burn in'. Pigments are added to a mixture of beeswax and natural tree sap (damar) resin, which is then melted, painted with, fused by heat and layered. Encaustic art can withstand temperatures up to 70 degrees Centigrade and has proved so hardy that we can still enjoy ancient mummy portraits painted in this fashion.

Different Formats and Sizes

I always use wooden backgrounds. My paintings range from the intimate format of 5x6 inches to 12x12 inches, A4, A3, some unusual sizes, and I am currently working on a 24x24 inch cradled  do noboard. When l do frame them, then usually not under glass.
